Tai o Hī Tai o Hā
Tai o Hī Tai o Hā is a wānanga toi series designed to empower taiohi by fostering cultural identity, leadership, and creative expression within a Ngāpuhi-nui-tonu context. Through immersive wānanga across Ngāpuhi-nui-tonu, selected taiohi engage with esteemed Ngāpuhi ringatoi, pūkenga, and cultural practitioners to develop their creative and leadership pathways.
This initiative provides taiohi with meaningful opportunities to:
Strengthen their whakapapa connections
Enhance their reo Māori
Refine their talents within toi (e.g. raranga, whakairo, uku, mahi ā Rēhia, digital creative industries etc.)
Through mentorship and community-led projects, participants:
Gain hands-on experience
Build enduring relationships with hapū and iwi
Contribute to the revitalisation of Ngāpuhi cultural identity
