About this piece

The practice of giving pins or brooches as formal gestures of affection and relationship is celebrated in contemporary songs such as “ka pinea koe au”.  Like traditional mana taonga, these pine were presented within large gatherings of extended families and are a contemporary expression of ancient practices.
